Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)

विद्या शौर्य च दाक्ष्यं च बल॑ धैर्य च पञजचमम्‌ | मित्राणि सहजान्याहुर्वर्तयन्तीह तैर्बुधा:,विद्या, शूरवीरता, दक्षता, बल और पाँचवाँ धैर्य--ये पाँच मनुष्य के स्वाभाविक मित्र बताये गये हैं। विद्वान्‌ पुरुष इनके द्वारा ही इस जगतमें सारे कार्य करते हैं

Learning, valor, skill, strength, and as the fifth, steadfast endurance—these five are said to be a person’s inborn friends. By their aid the wise accomplish all undertakings in this world.
