Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)

सहसंजातवृद्धस्य तथैव सहभोजिन: । शरणागतस्य च वधस्त्रिविधं होव पातकम्‌,“जो साथ ही पैदा हुआ और साथ ही पाला-पोसा गया हो, साथ ही भोजन करता हो और शरणमें आकर रहता हो, ऐसे व्यक्तिका वध करनेसे उपर्युक्त तीन प्रकारका पातक लगता है”

Transliteration

saha-saṃjāta-vṛddhasya tathaiva saha-bhojinaḥ | śaraṇāgatasya ca vadhas trividhaṃ hova pātakam ||

Translation

Bhishma said: “The killing of one who was born and brought up together with you, who shares your food and fellowship, and who has come to you for refuge—such a killing is declared to be a threefold sin. In ethical terms, it violates the bonds of shared upbringing, shared sustenance, and the sacred duty of protecting a supplicant.”
