एवमुक्तस्तु मार्जारो मूषिकेणात्मनो हितम्‌ । वचन वाक्यतत्त्वज्ञो जीवितार्थी महामति:,चूहेके ऐसा कहनेपर वाणीके मर्मको समझनेवाला और अपने जीवनकी रक्षा चाहनेवाला परम बुद्धिमान्‌ बिलाव अपने हितकी बात बताता हुआ बोला

evam uktas tu mārjāro mūṣikeṇātmano hitam | vacana-vākya-tattvajño jīvitārthī mahāmatiḥ ||

Bhīṣma said: Thus addressed by the mouse, the cat—keenly discerning the real import of words and sentences, intent on preserving his own life, and possessed of great intelligence—spoke, setting forth what he claimed to be for his own welfare.
