Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the human reality of sorrow arising from attachment and separation, using a parental example to evoke compassion and to prepare for reflection on steadiness of mind and dharma amid suffering.

Bhīṣma introduces (or continues) an illustrative episode: Vīradyumna’s son Bhūridyumna has gone missing in the forest, and the father, remembering him, is overwhelmed with grief.
