मन्यमान: प्रभावं च कृष्णस्यामिततेजस: । तेन न च्यावितश्नाहं क्षत्रधर्मात् स्वनुछितात्
manyamānaḥ prabhāvaṃ ca kṛṣṇasyāmitatejasaḥ | tena na cyāvitaś cāhaṃ kṣatradharmāt svanuṣṭhitāt ||
Sañjaya said: “Recognizing the extraordinary power of Kṛṣṇa, whose splendor is immeasurable, I too was not shaken from the kṣatriya’s duty that I had undertaken as my own proper course.”
संजय उवाच
The verse emphasizes steadfastness in one’s rightful duty (kṣatriya-dharma) even amid overwhelming forces, grounded in clear recognition of Kṛṣṇa’s extraordinary potency; ethical action here is framed as unwavering adherence to one’s ordained responsibility.
Sañjaya, narrating events, reflects that awareness of Kṛṣṇa’s immense power did not cause him to waver; instead, it reinforced his firmness in the warrior’s duty he had taken up.
