Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
हेतुकारणसंयुक्तैर्वाक्यै: कालसमीरितै: । क्षिप्रमेव महाबाहो गान्धारीं शमयिष्यसि,“महाबाहो! आप सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके स्रष्टा और संहारक हैं। आप ही सबकी उत्पत्ति और प्रलयके स्थान हैं। आप युक्ति और कारणोंसे संयुक्त समयोचित वचनोंद्वारा गान्धारी देवीको शीघ्र ही शान्त कर देंगे
hetukāraṇasaṁyuktair vākyaiḥ kālasamīritaiḥ | kṣipram eva mahābāho gāndhārīṁ śamayīṣyasi ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O mighty-armed one, with words joined to sound reasoning and clear causes—spoken in a timely manner—you will quickly soothe Gāndhārī.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Grief and anger are best addressed through timely, reasoned speech grounded in clear causes—counsel that respects both emotion and dharma.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana predicts that the addressed hero (“mahābāho”) will soon calm Gāndhārī by speaking to her with appropriate, well-reasoned words in the tense aftermath of the war.
