Vaiśampāyana said: “O subduer of foes! To pacify Gandhārī, who is blazing with anger, it seems to me right that you should go there now. O Mādhava, tamer of enemies! You are indeed the maker and unmaker of worlds—the source and the dissolution of all beings. Mighty-armed one, you are the very ground where all arise and into which all pass away. With timely words joined to sound reasoning, you will quickly calm Queen Gandhārī.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even in the aftermath of righteous war, unchecked anger can become destructive; therefore, timely, reasoned speech and compassionate intervention are presented as the proper means to restore balance. The verse also frames Kṛṣṇa as the cosmic regulator—capable of calming passions through wisdom suited to the moment.
Vaiśampāyana describes Gandhārī as burning with wrath after the catastrophe of the war. He urges Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa) to go to her and pacify her, praising him as the creator and destroyer of worlds who can, through appropriate and well-reasoned words, quickly calm her.
