गान्धारी-प्रशमनम् — Pacification of Gāndhārī and Kṛṣṇa’s Counsel at Hāstinapura
yato dharmas tato kṛṣṇo yataḥ kṛṣṇas tato jayaḥ | upaplavya-nagare me maharṣi-dvaipāyanena uktaṃ āsīt—“yatra dharmas tatra śrīkṛṣṇaḥ, yatra śrīkṛṣṇas tatraiva vijayaḥ” ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “Wherever dharma stands, there stands Kṛṣṇa; and wherever Kṛṣṇa stands, there is victory. In the city of Upaplavya, the great sage Dvaipāyana once told me: ‘Where there is dharma, there is Śrī Kṛṣṇa; and where Śrī Kṛṣṇa is, there indeed is triumph.’”

Victory is not merely a product of force or strategy; it follows dharma. Kṛṣṇa is presented as inseparable from dharma, so aligning oneself with righteousness is simultaneously aligning with the divine support that leads to true success.
In the Shalya Parva context, Yudhiṣṭhira recalls an earlier assurance given by Vyāsa at Upaplavya: that wherever dharma is upheld, Kṛṣṇa will be present, and where Kṛṣṇa is present, victory is assured—strengthening resolve amid the war’s crisis.
