Vasiṣṭhāpavāha: Sarasvatī’s Diversion and Viśvāmitra’s Curse (वसिष्ठापवाहः)
jagāma dhṛtarāṣṭrasya bhavanaṃ brāhmaṇottamaḥ | nareśvara! tān sarvān ṛṣīn evaṃ uktvā sa pratāpī uttamo brāhmaṇo rājā dhṛtarāṣṭrasya gṛhaṃ jagāma ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Having spoken thus to all those sages, the illustrious foremost Brāhmaṇa proceeded to the residence of King Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical role of spiritual authority: after addressing the sages, the foremost Brāhmaṇa goes to the king, implying that wise counsel must reach those who govern, and that rulers should be approached with truth and guidance at decisive moments.
Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates a transition: a renowned Brāhmaṇa, having spoken to the assembled ṛṣis, departs and goes to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s residence, setting up the next interaction or message to be delivered to the king.
