Vaiśampāyana said: Having conferred with one another, those two—Ekatakṣa and Dvitakṣa—spoke together. O lord of men, listen now to what those two sinful ones said to each other.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames an ethically charged dialogue: the narrator flags the speakers as ‘pāpau’ (sinful), preparing the listener to evaluate their counsel critically and to distinguish dharma from adharma in what follows.
Vaiśampāyana transitions into reporting a private consultation between two figures named Ekatakṣa and Dvitakṣa, inviting the addressed ‘janeśvara’ to hear the content of their mutual conversation.
