एकततक्न द्वितश्वैव पृष्ठ: कालयन् पशून् । महाराज! उनमें त्रित मुनि तो प्रसन्नतापूर्वक आगे-आगे चलते थे और एकत तथा द्वित पीछे रहकर पशुओंको हाँकते जाते थे
ekatatakaḥ dvitataś caiva pṛṣṭhaḥ kālayan paśūn | mahārāja, teṣāṃ tritaḥ muniḥ tu prasannatāpūrvakam agre agre calati sma, ekataḥ ca dvitataḥ ca paścāt sthitvā paśūn hāṅkayantaḥ yayuḥ |
Vaiśampāyana said: “O great king, among them the sage Trita moved ahead with a serene and contented mind, while Ekata and Dvitata stayed behind, driving the cattle onward.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights role-based duty and composure: the sage leads with calm clarity, while others fulfill supportive labor behind—suggesting that ethical order is maintained when each person performs their assigned task without resentment.
Vaiśampāyana describes a small procession: Trita, the sage, walks in front contentedly, and Ekata and Dvitata remain behind to drive the cattle forward as they travel.
