Adhyāya 6: Śibira-dvāra-sthita Bhūta-varṇana and Aśvatthāmā’s Śaraṇāgati to Mahādeva

प्रतिज्ञानं हुविज्ञानं प्रवदन्ति मनीषिण:

pratijñānaṃ huvijñānaṃ pravadanti manīṣiṇaḥ

Sañjaya said: “The wise declare that a vow (pratijñā) is not a mere utterance but a deliberate, well-considered commitment—one that must be understood in its true intent and consequences.”
