Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O King, what shall we do for you? You are our lord and have authority over us. O Bhārata, we wish always to remain under your rule and obey your command.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse foregrounds dharma in the form of disciplined obedience and humility toward legitimate authority: Yudhiṣṭhira presents himself and his brothers as willing to act only by the king’s command, emphasizing restraint and respect for governance.
In the aftermath of the dice-hall crisis, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Dhṛtarāṣṭra, asking what he should do next and affirming his readiness to remain under the king’s rule—setting the tone for Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s subsequent instructions and decisions.
