Educational Q&A

Even intense anger must be checked by discernment of dharma: Bhima’s impulse toward violent retribution is restrained because he recognizes the act as falling within the kshatriya code, showing the tension between personal wrath and ethical norms.

Bhima addresses Arjuna, declaring that he would have forcibly burned the offender’s arms in a blazing fire, but he refrains because he understands the deed in question to be consistent with kshatriya conduct.
