Thus ends the fifty-seventh chapter of the Dyūta section within the Sabhā Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, concerning the circumstances of Yudhiṣṭhira being summoned. This closing note marks the narrative’s turn toward the fateful events set in motion by that summons, where duty, consent, and moral responsibility will be tested.
धृतराष्ट उवाच
As a colophon-style closing, it does not teach through a direct maxim; instead it frames the ethical arc: a seemingly formal summons initiates a chain of choices where duty, consent, and responsibility become central, foreshadowing the moral crisis of the dice episode.
This line marks the completion of a chapter in the Dyūta episode within Sabhā Parva, specifically connected with Yudhiṣṭhira being called to the assembly—setting up the next developments of the dice-game narrative.
