Adhyāya 48 — Duryodhana’s Account of Tribute and the Provisioned Court (सभा पर्व, अध्याय ४८)

देवने कुशलश्षाहं न मे5स्ति सदृशो भुवि । त्रिषु लोकेषु कौरव्य त॑ त्वं द्यूते समाह्दय,मैं जूआ खेलनेमें बहुत निपुण हूँ। इस कलामें मेरी समानता करनेवाला पृथ्वीपर दूसरा कोई नहीं है। केवल यहीं नहीं, तीनों लोकोंमें मेरे-जैसा द्यूतविद्याका जानकार नहीं है। अतः कुरुनन्दन! तुम द्यूतक्रीड़ाके लिये युधिष्ठिरको बुलाओ

devane kuśalo 'haṁ na me 'sti sadṛśo bhuvi | triṣu lokeṣu kauravya tvaṁ dūte samāhvaya ||

Duryodhana said: “I am skilled in gambling; on this earth there is none equal to me. Indeed, even in the three worlds there is no one who knows the art of dice-play like I do. Therefore, O scion of the Kurus, summon Yudhiṣṭhira here for a game of dice.”
