Adhyāya 45 — Duryodhana’s Distress, Śakuni’s Counsel, and the Summons for Dyūta

चेदीनामाधिपत्ये च पुत्रमस्य महीपते: । अभ्यषिज्चत्‌ तदा पार्थ: सह तैर्वसुधाधिपै:,उस समय कुन्तीनन्दन राजा युधिष्छिरने वहाँ आये हुए सभी भूमिपालोंके साथ चेदिदेशके राजसिंहासनपर शिशुपालके पुत्रको अभिषिक्त कर दिया

Transliteration

cedīnām ādhipatye ca putram asya mahīpateḥ | abhyaṣiñcat tadā pārthaḥ saha tair vasudhādhipaiḥ ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana said: Then Pārtha (Yudhiṣṭhira), together with the assembled rulers of the earth, consecrated the son of that king (Śiśupāla) to the sovereignty of the Cedi realm—an act that restores political order after the fall of a ruler and affirms the dharmic duty of installing a rightful successor rather than leaving a kingdom leaderless.
