Jarāsandha as Obstacle to the Rājasūya — Kṛṣṇa’s Strategic Genealogical Brief

Sabhā Parva, Adhyāya 13

Vaiśampāyana uvāca — dvārakāvāsinam kṛṣṇaṃ dvāravatyāṃ samāsadat.

Vaiśampāyana said: The messenger met Kṛṣṇa, the resident of Dvārakā, in Dvāravatī itself. In the course of the tale, Yudhiṣṭhira—having concluded that Kṛṣṇa is all-powerful and all-knowing, and that nothing is unbearable for him—acts with reverent discernment: as one would petition elders and teachers, he promptly sends an envoy to the universal teacher, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, seeking guidance and support.

Educational Q&A

When facing complex moral and political dilemmas, a righteous ruler should seek guidance from the truly wise, approaching them with humility and clarity of purpose. Yudhiṣṭhira’s reverent decision to consult Kṛṣṇa models ethical leadership grounded in discernment rather than impulse.

A messenger, dispatched on Yudhiṣṭhira’s behalf, reaches the Yādavas and meets Kṛṣṇa in Dvārakā (Dvāravatī). The verse marks the successful audience with Kṛṣṇa, setting up the ensuing counsel or intervention.
