Pitāmaha-sabhā-varṇana & Hariścandra-māhātmya
Description of Brahmā’s Assembly and the Eminence of Hariścandra
एतैराप्यायितै: पूर्व सोमश्चाप्याय्यते पुन: । त एते पितर: सर्वे प्रजापतिमुपस्थिता:
etair āpyāyitaiḥ pūrva somaś cāpyāyyate punaḥ | ta ete pitaraḥ sarve prajāpatiṃ upasthitāḥ ||
Nārada said: “By these offerings, first the ancestors are nourished; and then Soma too is replenished again. Thus all those Pitṛs, having been satisfied, stand in attendance upon Prajāpati.”
नारद उवाच
The verse teaches reciprocity within dharma: offerings and rites nourish the Pitṛs, and through that nourishment the cosmic principle associated with Soma is renewed; satisfied ancestors then support the divine order represented by Prajāpati.
Nārada explains the ritual-cosmic sequence: offerings first satisfy the ancestors; thereafter Soma is replenished again, and the Pitṛs, now content, are described as standing in attendance upon Prajāpati.
