संवत्सरा: पञ्च युगमहोरात्रश्नतुर्विध: । कालचक्र च तद्‌ दिव्यं नित्यमक्षयमव्ययम्‌

Transliteration

saṃvatsarāḥ pañca yugam ahorātraś caturvidhaḥ | kālacakraṃ ca tad divyaṃ nityam akṣayam avyayam ||

Translation

Nārada said: “Five years make up a yuga; and the day-and-night cycle is spoken of as fourfold. This divine Wheel of Time turns everlastingly—constant, inexhaustible, and undecaying.”
