अगस्त्यश्न महातेजा मार्कण्डेयश्व वीर्यवान् । जमदन्निर्भरद्वाज: संवर्तक्ष्यवनस्तथा,महातेजस्वी अगस्त्य, शक्तिशाली मार्कण्डेय, जमदग्नि, भरद्वाज, संवर्त, च्यवन,
agastyaś ca mahātejā mārkaṇḍeyaś ca vīryavān | jamadagniḥ bharadvājaḥ saṃvartaś cyavanaḥ tathā ||
Nārada said: “Agastya, the mighty in spiritual splendor; Mārkaṇḍeya, renowned for steadfast strength; and also Jamadagni, Bharadvāja, Saṃvarta, and Cyavana.”
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights that guidance on dharma is grounded in the testimony of accomplished sages—those marked by tejas (spiritual brilliance), vīrya (inner strength), learning, and disciplined conduct.
Nārada enumerates eminent r̥ṣis—Agastya, Mārkaṇḍeya, Jamadagni, Bharadvāja, Saṃvarta, and Cyavana—invoking their stature as authoritative figures relevant to the surrounding discussion in the Sabha Parva.
