maya uvāca yuktam etat tvayi vibho yathāttha puruṣarṣabha | prītipūrvam ahaṃ kiñcit kartum icchāmi bhārata ||
Maya said: “O Lord, O best of men, what you have spoken is indeed fitting for one like you. Yet, O Bhārata, out of affection I wish to do something—some small service—for you.”
मय उवाच
The verse highlights ethical reciprocity: recognizing a noble person’s fitting conduct and responding with gratitude and loving service (prīti) rather than mere obligation.
Maya addresses a revered figure as ‘Bhārata’ and ‘best of men,’ affirming that the other’s words are appropriate, and expresses a desire to offer some affectionate service in return.
