Maya’s Offer and the Commissioning of the Sabhā
arjuna uvāca | kṛtam eva tvayā sarvaṃ svasti gaccha mahāsura | prītimān bhava me nityaṃ prītimanto vayaṃ ca te ||
Arjuna said: “By what you have done, you have, as it were, fully repaid everything. Go forth in well-being, O great Asura. Keep constant affection for me; and we too shall remain ever affectionate toward you.”
The verse highlights ethical reciprocity and gracious closure: one should acknowledge another’s good act as sufficient repayment, offer blessings, and maintain goodwill rather than prolonging obligation or hostility.
Arjuna addresses a powerful Asura, accepts that the Asura’s action has fully repaid a prior favor, blesses him with safety, and parts on terms of mutual affection.
