tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ vacanaṃ dīrghadarśinaḥ |
Dhṛtarāṣṭra reflects that the far-sighted counsel once spoken has now come to pass before his eyes. Because his son did not accept that advice, he is now inevitably consumed by grief; the warning of the wise Bhīṣma has proved true in the harsh reality of the war.
Ignoring wise, far-sighted counsel—especially in matters of dharma and statecraft—inevitably ripens into suffering; grief is presented as the moral consequence of obstinacy and unethical choice.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra laments that Bhīṣma’s earlier warning has now been vindicated by events. He recognizes that his son’s refusal to heed that advice has led directly to the present sorrow amid the devastation of the war.
