Sañjaya said: “O king, in sacred learning you are comparable to the great seers. You have fulfilled the duties of your life; therefore steady your inner self and do not let your mind sink into grief.”

The verse teaches mental steadiness grounded in dharma: one who has fulfilled rightful duties should not be overwhelmed by despair, but should compose the mind and face events with inner firmness.
Sañjaya addresses the king (Dhṛtarāṣṭra), consoling and advising him amid the war reports, praising his learning and reminding him that he has completed his life’s obligations, so he should not succumb to grief.
