Shloka 49

स चोदितो भीमजनार्दनाभ्यां स्मृत्वा तथा55त्मानमवेक्ष्य सर्वम्‌ । इहात्मनश्नलागमने विदित्वा प्रयोजन केशवमित्युवाच,भीमसेन और श्रीकृष्णके इस प्रकार प्रेरणा देने और कहनेपर अत्यन्त बलशाली महात्मा अर्जुनने सूतपुत्रके वधका विचार किया। उन्होंने अपने स्वरूपका स्मरण करके सब बातोंपर दृष्टिपात किया और इस युद्धभूमिमें अपने आगमनके प्रयोजनको समझकर श्रीकृष्णसे इस प्रकार कहा--

sa codito bhīma-janārdanābhyāṁ smṛtvā tathātmānam avekṣya sarvam | ihātmanas tv anāgamane viditvā prayojanaṁ keśavam ity uvāca ||

Sañjaya said: Thus urged by Bhīma and Janārdana (Krishna), the mighty Arjuna recalled his true resolve and surveyed the whole situation. Realizing the purpose for which he had come to this battlefield—and that it was not for him to withdraw—he addressed Keśava (Krishna) accordingly.
