पर्यस्तानीव शृुड्राणि ससत्त्वानि महागिरे: । धनंजयशराभ्यस्तै: स्तीर्णा भूर्वरवारणै:
paryastānīva śṛṅgāṇi sasattvāni mahāgireḥ | dhanañjayaśarābhyastaiḥ stīrṇā bhūr varavāraṇaiḥ ||
Sañjaya said: The battlefield looked as though the very peaks of a great mountain—still bearing living creatures—had been hurled down. The earth was strewn with noble elephants, struck and overwhelmed by the arrows of Dhanañjaya (Arjuna).
