Sañjaya said: Adorned with golden-hued trappings and splendid gold ornaments, the noble elephants—ever in rut—stood ready, their armor and fittings carefully prepared. The scene underscores the deliberate, lavishly equipped readiness for battle, where power and display are marshaled in service of a destructive war.

The verse highlights how war is sustained not only by courage but by deliberate preparation, wealth, and display of power. Ethically, it invites reflection on the contrast between splendid equipment and the grim purpose it serves—magnificence harnessed to violence.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the war-elephants are arrayed and ready—equipped with golden-colored trappings, gold ornaments, and properly prepared armor—standing in formation as part of the battlefield deployment.
