Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that extraordinary power (mahāstras) is not merely personal prowess but a trust conferred by cosmic authorities (lokapālas) to restore order against forces that threaten it (the Kālakeyas). It frames martial success as aligned with maintaining the world’s stability rather than private violence.

Karna describes a past episode in which the lokapālas, gathering individually, grant incomparable divine weapons. Armed with these, a supreme warrior—called ‘nṛsiṃha’—swiftly destroys the assembled Kālakeya demons on the battlefield.
