अर्जुन सिषिचुर्बाणै: पर्वत॑ं जलदा इव । कुरुश्रेष्ठ! तदनन्तर होशमें आकर आपके योद्धा अर्जुनपर उसी प्रकार बाणोंकी बौछार करने लगे, जैसे बादल पर्वतपर जलकी वर्षा करते हैं
sañjaya uvāca | arjunaḥ ṣiṣicur bāṇaiḥ parvataṃ jaladā iva | kuruśreṣṭha! tadanantaraṃ hośam ākarāḥ tava yoddhā arjunam upari tathā bāṇānāṃ bauṣṭhāraṃ prāhiṇvan, yathā jaladāḥ parvate jala-vṛṣṭiṃ kurvanti |
Sanjaya said: Arjuna drenched the foe with arrows, as rain-clouds drench a mountain. O best of the Kurus, thereafter your warriors, recovering their composure, began to shower Arjuna with volleys of arrows in the same way—like clouds pouring rain upon a mountain. The verse underscores the relentless reciprocity of battle: courage falters and returns, and the conflict escalates through disciplined, collective resolve rather than mere rage.
