Krishna’s Counsel, Arjuna’s Apology, and Authorization for Karṇa’s Slaying
शीघ्र गच्छत भद्ठरं वो राधेयं परिरक्षत । भीमसेनभयागाधे मज्जन्तं व्यसनार्णवे,“तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। तुमलोग शीघ्र जाओ और राधापुत्र कर्णकी रक्षा करो। वह भीमसेनके भयसे भरे हुए संकटके अगाध महासागरमें डूब रहा है”
sañjaya uvāca | śīghraṁ gacchata bhadraṁ vo rādheyaṁ parirakṣata | bhīmasenabhayāgādhe majjantaṁ vyasanārṇave ||
Sañjaya said: “May welfare attend you. Go quickly and protect Rādheya (Karna). He is sinking in the boundless ocean of calamity, made deep by fear of Bhīmasena.”
संजय उवाच
In a moment of battlefield crisis, the verse highlights the duty of allies to act swiftly and protect one who is overwhelmed—responding to danger with timely support rather than hesitation.
Sañjaya reports an urgent call to Karna’s side: others are told to hurry and safeguard him, as he is portrayed as being engulfed in severe misfortune, intensified by fear of Bhīma.
