अभ्यद्रवन्त समरे भीम॑ भीमपराक्रमम् । प्रभो! उस शूरवीरकों मारा गया देख उसके भाई समरभूमिमें भयंकर पराक्रमी भीमसेनपर सब ओरसे टूट पड़े
abhyadravanta samare bhīmaṁ bhīmaparākramam | prabho! taṁ śūravīraṁ hataṁ dṛṣṭvā tasya bhrātaraḥ samarabhūmau bhayaṅkara-parākramiṇaṁ bhīmasenam sarvataḥ samantāt pratyapatanta |
Sañjaya said: “In the thick of battle they rushed upon Bhīma—Bhīma of dreadful prowess. O Lord, seeing that heroic warrior slain, his brothers, inflamed by grief and duty, surged from every side on the battlefield against Bhīmasena, whose might was terrifying.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the kṣatriya impulse of responding to a comrade’s death with collective retaliation—showing how grief and duty can intensify violence, and how valor in war often escalates cycles of retribution.
After a heroic warrior is seen slain, his brothers rush from all directions to attack Bhīmasena in the battle, recognizing him as a terrifyingly powerful opponent.
