Sañjaya said: Vindā and Anuvindā, the two princes of Avanti, great chariot-warriors, having accomplished a deed exceedingly hard to achieve, went to the abode of Vaivasvata (Yama). Thus the grim moral cost of war is shown: even renowned kṣatriya heroes, after fulfilling their perilous martial duty, meet death and pass into Yama’s realm.

The verse highlights the inevitability of death in war and the severe price of martial duty: even celebrated kṣatriya heroes, after accomplishing daunting feats, ultimately pass to Yama’s realm—inviting reflection on the ethical weight and transience of battlefield glory.
Sañjaya reports that the Avanti princes Vindā and Anuvindā, both great chariot-warriors, have carried out a very difficult exploit in battle and have been slain, departing to Vaivasvata’s abode (the realm of Yama).
