Sañjaya said: “Then, once again, the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas—undaunted—came together for battle: the Pārthas led by Yudhiṣṭhira on one side, and we led by the Sūta’s son (Karna) on the other.”

The verse highlights steadfastness and leadership amid moral complexity: warriors renew engagement without fear, reflecting the kṣatriya ideal of resolve, while also pointing to the tragic dharma-conflict of relatives compelled by allegiance and duty to fight.
After a prior phase of fighting, both armies regroup and converge again. The Pāṇḍavas advance under Yudhiṣṭhira’s leadership, while the Kaurava side is described as advancing under Karna (the Sūta’s son), as reported by Sañjaya.
