अस्त्रयुद्धे द्रौणिपार्थसंघर्षः — Karṇa’s Bhārgavāstra and the Search for Yudhiṣṭhira
Chapter 45
शड्खानां तुमुल: शब्द: श्रूयते लोमहर्षण:
śaṅkhānāṃ tumulaḥ śabdaḥ śrūyate lomaharṣaṇaḥ
Sañjaya said: “A tumultuous, hair-raising roar of six conch-shells is heard.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how collective signals—like the blare of conches—can awaken intense emotions (courage, dread, resolve). Ethically, it reminds readers that war amplifies human passions and that inner steadiness is tested amid such overwhelming stimuli.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a powerful, thrilling roar of conch-shells is resounding on the battlefield, indicating heightened martial readiness and the escalation of the combat scene.
