Chapter 45
वेपमान इव क्रोधाद् युद्धशौण्ड: परंतप: । प्रतिव्यूह्ा महातेजा यथावद् भरतर्षभ
vepamāna iva krodhād yuddhaśauṇḍaḥ paraṃtapaḥ | prativyūhaṃ mahātejā yathāvad bharatarṣabha ||
Sanjaya said: Shaking, as it were, with wrath, that mighty warrior—scorcher of foes and master of battle—formed the counter-array in proper order, O bull among the Bharatas.
संजय उवाच
Even intense anger in warfare is shown as being harnessed through order and strategy; martial energy becomes ethically meaningful for a kṣatriya only when governed by discipline rather than uncontrolled fury.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that a great warrior, trembling with wrath, nevertheless organizes a proper counter-battle formation (prativyūha) to meet the enemy’s array.
