Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Sañjaya, when the sun had risen and the army had been ordered into battle-formation, what did that great-minded, highly discerning one do then? Tell me.”
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच
The verse highlights responsible leadership and accountability in war: decisions are made deliberately (at sunrise, after arranging the troops), and the king seeks a clear report—implying that actions in conflict must be examined, narrated, and judged, not left vague.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra questions Sañjaya about the next action taken after the army was ordered into formation at sunrise. It functions as a transition into the detailed description of the day’s battle events.
