Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 95 — Sātyaki’s Breakthrough and the Routing of Allied Contingents

शिरोभशि: पातितैस्तत्र भूमिरासीज्निरन्तरा | अभ्रच्छायेव चैवासीदू ध्वाड्क्षगृभ्रबलैर्युधि,वहाँ गिराये हुए मस्तकोंसे वह रणभूमि ठसाठस भर गयी थी और उस युद्धस्थलमें कौओं तथा गीधोंकी सेनाके आ जानेसे वहाँ मेघकी छाया-सी प्रतीत होती थी

sañjaya uvāca | śirobhiḥ pātitais tatra bhūmir āsīn nirantarā | abhracchāyeva caivāsīd dhvāṅkṣa-gṛdhra-balair yudhi |

Sañjaya said: There the battlefield became densely covered, without a gap, by the severed heads that had fallen. And in that combat, when hosts of crows and vultures gathered, the place seemed as though shaded by a cloud.
