Sañjaya said: “May you attain that very destiny which is gained by those who, in this world, constantly serve their mother and father and remain devoted to their own lawful wife.”
संजय उवाच
The verse praises two pillars of gṛhastha-dharma: unwavering service to one’s parents and faithful devotion to one’s own lawful spouse, declaring that such conduct leads to an auspicious ‘gati’ (destiny/fruit).
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, voices a blessing/benediction-like statement that links ethical household conduct—parental service and conjugal fidelity—to the attainment of a noble end.
