Sañjaya said: “May you, dear son, attain that very destiny which is gained by those who, being a refuge to Brahmins, establish endowments for them, and who, having laid aside the rod of punishment, do not harm any living being.”
संजय उवाच
The verse praises two dharmic ideals—supporting and protecting Brahmins through charitable endowments, and practicing non-violence by renouncing punitive harm—and blesses the listener to attain the same exalted spiritual destiny earned by such conduct.
Sañjaya speaks a benedictory statement addressed to “son,” invoking the merit and final attainment (gati) of charitable, non-violent protectors of Brahmins and wishing that the addressee reach that same state.
