Vāyu said: “Your son was born in a noble lineage, steadfast and courageous—above all, a kṣatriya. This kind of death is fitting for him; therefore, do not grieve.”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse frames death in battle as ‘befitting’ for a courageous kṣatriya, urging restraint of grief by recalling one’s dharma and the honor associated with a warrior’s end.
Vāyudeva addresses a grieving person and consoles them: since the deceased son was noble-born and a true kṣatriya, his manner of death aligns with his warrior duty, so the mourner should not lament.
