धृष्टद्युम्नस्य द्रोणरथारोহণं सात्यकेः प्रतिरक्षणं च | Dhrishtadyumna Boards Droṇa’s Chariot; Sātyaki’s Counter-Protection
इत्येवं विलपन् मन्ये नृशंसैर्भुवि पातित: । “जब कर्ण, द्रोण और कृपाचार्य आदिने चमकते हुए अग्रभागवाले नाना प्रकारके तीखे बाणोंद्वारा मेरे पुत्रको पीड़ित किया होगा और उसकी चेतना मन्द होने लगी होगी, उस समय अभिमन्युने बारंबार विलाप करते हुए यह कहा होगा कि यदि यहाँ मेरे पिताजी होते तो मेरे प्राणोंकी रक्षा हो जाती। मैं समझता हूँ, उसी अवस्थामें उन निर्दयी शत्रुओंने उसे पृथ्वीपर मार गिराया होगा ।। ४९-५० # ।। अथवा मत्प्रसूत: स स्वस्रीयो माधवस्य च
ity evaṁ vilapan manye nṛśaṁsair bhuvi pātitaḥ |
Sañjaya said: “Thus, lamenting again and again, I think he was struck down to the ground by those pitiless men. When Karṇa, Droṇa, Kṛpa and others had tormented my son with many kinds of sharp arrows with gleaming points, and when his awareness began to fade, Abhimanyu would repeatedly cry out that if his father were here, his life would be saved. In that very condition, I believe, the ruthless enemies felled him upon the earth.”
