Abhimanyu advances toward Droṇa’s host

Sañjaya said: “Dear one, in the clash of battle we regard you as equal to Dhanañjaya (Arjuna). Fixing our attention upon you alone, we shall follow close behind, guarding you on every side.”

The verse foregrounds martial ethics of loyalty and protective duty: companions pledge vigilant, all-sided guardianship of a leader/warrior, treating him as equal to Arjuna—an ideal of steadfast support and disciplined attention amid chaos.
Sañjaya reports a battlefield assurance: the speaker’s side declares that they will regard the addressed warrior as Arjuna’s equal and will move with him, keeping their focus on him while protecting him from every direction during the engagement.
