rathaṁ cāgryaṁ hemamālāvanaddhaṁ ratnaiś citraṁ sūryacandraprakāśaiḥ | dravyair yuktaṁ samprahāropapannaṁ vahir-yuktaṁ tūrṇam āvartayasva ||

Sanjaya said: “Quickly bring back that excellent chariot, yoked with those very horses—adorned with garlands of gold, inlaid with wondrous gems shining like the sun and the moon, and fully equipped with the supplies and fittings suited for the clash of battle.”

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights readiness and proper preparation for one’s appointed duty in a crisis: the chariot is not merely luxurious but explicitly ‘fit for battle,’ suggesting that resources and splendor are to be directed toward the immediate responsibility of war rather than display alone.

In Sanjaya’s report, an urgent command is conveyed to fetch an excellent, fully equipped chariot yoked with the same horses—lavishly decorated yet practically prepared—indicating imminent movement into combat and the mobilization of royal war-gear.
