Shloka 7

क्रूरमायोधनं जज्ञे तस्मिन्‌ राजसमागमे । रुद्रस्येव हि क्रुद्धस्य निघ्नतस्तान्‌ पशून्‌ पुरा,राजाओंमें वह संघर्ष छिड़ जानेपर उस युद्ध-स्थलमें क्रूरताका ताण्डव होने लगा। जैसे पूर्व (प्रलय) कालमें क्रोधमें भरे हुए रुद्रदेवके द्वारा पशुओं (प्राणियों)-का संहार होते समय निर्दयताका दृश्य उपस्थित हुआ था

krūram āyodhanaṃ jajñe tasmin rājasamāgame | rudrasyeva hi kruddhasya nighnatastān paśūn purā ||

Sañjaya said: When the kings had converged and the clash erupted, that battlefield became a scene of ruthless combat. It appeared like the ancient devastation wrought when the wrathful Rudra, in fury, struck down living beings—an image of pitiless slaughter overwhelming all restraint.
