Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how pivotal moral and strategic centers of power are in war: removing a figure like Kṛṣṇa—who embodies counsel, legitimacy, and unifying authority—would shift sovereignty itself. It implies that victory is not only about martial strength but also about the presence of righteous guidance and political cohesion.

Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra a consequential assessment: if Karṇa could kill Kṛṣṇa (called Dāśārha and Yādavanandana), then Karṇa’s dominance would be assured and the whole earth would fall under his control. It underscores Kṛṣṇa’s decisive role in the conflict’s balance of power.
