Sañjaya said: Then the Saṁsaptakas again struck Arjuna with sharp arrows—ten and ten. Seeing this, Pārtha (Arjuna), the son of Kuntī, in return pierced them with arrows, three and three, meeting their assault with measured, disciplined counterblows amid the press of battle.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined martial conduct: even under repeated, heavy assault, Arjuna responds with controlled, proportionate precision—an expression of kṣatriya-dharma (steadfastness and skill without panic).
The Saṁsaptakas repeatedly shower Arjuna with sharp arrows in tens; Arjuna retaliates effectively, wounding them with arrows in threes, showing tactical composure in the Drona Parva battle.
