Shloka 39

नि:ःशब्दमासीत्‌ सहसा पुन: शब्दों महानभूत्‌ । क्रुद्धानां युध्यमानानां जीयतां जयतामपि,क्रोधमें भरकर युद्ध करते हुए पराजित एवं विजयी होनेवाले योद्धाओंका शब्द वहाँ सहसा बंद होकर कभी सन्नाटा छा जाता था और कभी पुनः महान्‌ कोलाहल होने लगता था

niḥśabdam āsīt sahasā punaḥ śabdo mahān abhūt | kruddhānāṃ yudhyamānānāṃ jīyatāṃ jayatām api ||

Sañjaya said: Suddenly there would be complete silence, and then again a great roar would arise. Amid warriors fighting in wrath—some being defeated, others victorious—the tumult would abruptly cease, only to surge once more.
