Sañjaya said: O King, the encounter of those two became wondrous to behold. It was like the meeting of Mercury and the Sun in a sky cleared of clouds—so, on the battlefield, their extraordinary convergence appeared.

The verse highlights how extraordinary confrontations in war can appear as cosmic, fated events; the simile suggests that when conditions are clear (like a cloudless sky), greatness becomes unmistakable—inviting reflection on destiny, power, and the awe such moments inspire.
Sañjaya reports to the king that the meeting of two principal warriors on the battlefield was astonishing, comparing their convergence to the striking sight of Mercury and the Sun together in a cloudless sky.
