Nārāyaṇāstra-utpātaḥ — Aśvatthāman’s Rallying Roar after Droṇa’s Fall (द्रोणपर्व, अध्याय १६७)
सा हेमचित्रा महती पाण्डवेन प्रवेरिता । निर्भिद्य दक्षिणं बाहुं प्राविशद् धरणीतलम्,पाण्डुकुमार युधिष्ठिरकी चलायी हुई वह सुवर्ण-चित्रित विशाल शक्ति कृतवर्माकी दाहिनी भुजाको छेदकर धरतीमें समा गयी
sā hemacitrā mahatī pāṇḍavena preritā | nirbhidya dakṣiṇaṃ bāhuṃ prāviśad dharaṇītalam ||
Sañjaya said: The great spear, adorned with golden designs and hurled by the Pāṇḍava, pierced through Kṛtavarmā’s right arm and then sank into the earth.
संजय उवाच
Actions, once set in motion—especially in war—produce immediate and often irreversible results; the verse highlights accountability within kṣatriya-dharma, where intent and deed culminate in tangible harm.
A large, gold-ornamented spear hurled by Yudhiṣṭhira strikes and pierces Kṛtavarmā’s right arm, then continues onward and disappears into the ground.
